2016

The Southern Highlands of NSW is known for the strength and creativity of its artistic community.

Practitioners of all levels, from national icons to enthusiastic amateurs, come to the area for the cool air, natural beauty and lifestyle which combine to provide an inspirational environment in which to create.

The primary feature of the Southern Highlands Arts Festival (SHAF) is the Southern Highlands Art Studio Trail… an opportunity for these artists to open their studio doors and welcome visitors to explore their creative habitats during November. Many studios open in a collaborative spirit, to feature works of other local artists and demonstrate the extent and cohesive nature of this broad and supportive artistic community.

The Art Studio trail is an invitation to meet ‘makers’, observe the creative processes first hand, purchase artworks from the studio, then enjoy a coffee, a meal or a weekend… all in the context of the stunning and welcoming Southern Highlands; it is a potent offering on many levels. Peter Campbell Design was engaged to make over the SHAF branding, collateral and online presence with a view to repositioning the Festival to a broader audience.

This involved developing a contemporary mapping strategy for the Art Studio Trail, redesigning the all maps from the ground up, reworking the printed Festival collateral, and redeveloping the website from scratch as a fully responsive online guide to the month-long event.
